Round #2 of the 2022 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season

GENERAL INFO – It’s always a show at the Texas Motor Speedway. For a change in the schedule, the NTT INDYCAR SERIES returns, but this time in mid-March. The weather should be cooler, as June temps traditionally tops 100 degrees! Busy track as they host 900 events annually! The NTT INDYCAR SERIES has raced at this facility since 1998.

This will be a daylight event on Sunday, varying from the traditional Saturday night show. From the front stretch grandstands, you can see around the 1.5 mile tri-oval track. Distinctive to TMS, is “BIG HOSS” on the backstretch. It is a huge HD-TV, stretching to 20,663 sq. ft! It could be very warm, so come prepared with cool, loose-fitting clothing and a hat. Don’t forget to pack the sunscreen and disposable rain gear and remember there isn’t any shade in the infield. Complimentary golf cart shuttles are available to transport fans from the parking areas to the infield. Follow signage to designated pickup/drop off locations. 

Soft-sided coolers no larger than 14”x14”x14” are allowed but no glass containers. Handbags are limited to 6’x9” and clear backpacks only. There aren’t any clear bags available for sale at the track so please be prepared ahead of time. There are several vendors on-site that will have drinks, food and souvenirs. Don’t forget to visit the Official INDYCAR Merchandise store, as they’ve added some new items for the start of the 2022 season. 

Please be aware that there is no smoking in the grandstands. Only service ADA animals are allowed within the venue. Masks are not required to attend this event.

All practice and qualifying sessions are FREE on Saturday, tickets are not required for entry! Bring the kids, family, neighbors, etc. Tickets are required for race day, Sunday, March 20.

TRACK CONFIGURATION – While the high-banked tri-oval track is listed at 1.5-miles in length, the measured length after the reconfiguration a few years ago is 1.45-miles. The track is banked at 20 degrees in turns 1 & 2; 24 degrees in turns 3 & 4 and 5 degrees on the straightaways. TMS encompasses 1,500 acres, seating for over 125,000 with a total capacity, exceeding 181,000! It’s huge – it’s Texas!

PREFERRED AIRPORTS – Dallas/Ft. Worth International (DFW) and Dallas Love Field (DAL).

PARKING – FREE parking is plentiful at TMS. ADA parking is very close to the grandstand entries, located in front of the VIP Parking Lot. Must have an ADA license plate or placard. Follow signs. VIP Parking is a pay lot. Contact the ticket office for prices. No reserved specific areas for motorcycle parking.

CREDENTIALS – Located in the old ticket office near turn 2, outside of track and near the TMS Dirt Track. Minors are NOT allowed in the garage/paddock areas. If you have a grandstand ticket AND credential, you can use the tunnel near the first turn from the infield to cross under the track. You must have the combo to use the tunnel. Pre-race attendees can use the wheel fence gate to exit the tri-oval into the grandstand. Otherwise, use a shuttle – you can catch behind the garage area to bring you to the grandstand area. Hours: 3/18, Noon to 5 PM. 3/19, 7 AM-4 PM. 3/20, 7 AM-Noon. Central Time Zone. 

ENTRY POINTS – Various gates to the grandstand areas are easily accessible from all parking areas. Enter at the closest gate to your seat. Clear backpacks only, soft-side coolers not to exceed 14”x14”x14” are allowed, no glass containers. Limited one cooler per ticket holder. Handbags not to exceed 6”x9”. All items are subject to search at the entry points.

PROHIBITED ITEMS – Personal golf carts and other such transportation are not allowed except with an ADA permit. Do not bring strollers, umbrellas, skateboards, scooters or rollerblades. No firearms, weapons, fireworks or illegal substances. No drones or other flying devices. No smoking in the grandstands, smokers must go to a concourse marked area. If an item is rejected at the gate, you can return it to your vehicle or forfeit the item. It will not be held at the gate for later retrieval.
