Know Before You Go: Laguna Seca

FIRESTONE GRAND PRIX OF MONTEREY
at WEATHERTECH* RACEWAY AT LAGUNA SECA

September 17-19, 2021

Round #15 of the 2021 NTT INDYCAR SERIES Season

GENERAL INFO – The NTT INDYCAR SERIES returns to the historic race track in Laguna Seca, located on California’s beautiful central coast. Sometimes referred to as Monterey, this permanent road course is about 10 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. The track was built 64 years ago and is now owned as a park (open year-around) by the County of Monterey and enjoys spectacular views with many elevation changes.

Take some time to walk this course, but be prepared for the significant elevation changes throughout, so you will get a workout. Travel light and remain portable. Make sure to dress comfortably, especially with comfortable walking shoes. Be prepared for weather changes, as the weather can quickly change from foggy & chilly mornings, to scorching heat, back to crisp, windy and/or wet conditions. You can have a little of everything in a single day. Bring sunscreen, hat, camera and binoculars. Complimentary golf cart shuttles are available on site to assist in your mobility, so be sure to inquire at a guest relations station if you so choose a ride.

Whether or not the venue is busy with track activity, the public park is open year around. You’ll find many different groups of motorsports enthusiasts using the track, such as racing schools, various car clubs, motorcycles and SCCA regional racing events. Camping and hiking experiences are also offered.

The NTT INDYCAR SERIES conducted a day of Spring Testing at the track on February 8. The test was reduced to 5 hours before rain cancelled the rest of track activity.
