Round #12 of the 2021 NTT INDYCAR SERIES Season
GENERAL INFO – The Big Machine Vodka Spiked Coolers Grand Prix will share the IMS road course over the weekend with the NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The facility uses parts of the oval and the infield portion of the road course that was built in 2000. This is the second year the infield road course has hosted multiple NTT INDYCAR SERIES events in a season, with 2020 being the first due to COVID-19 scheduling. This will also be the first time the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and the NASCAR Cup Series cars will race on the same course in the same weekend. The NTT INDYCAR SERIES race will be 85 laps, 200 miles.
August in Indiana can be quite warm and humid. It also rains. Come prepared for the spectrum, including an extra jacket. You will walk a lot, so wear comfortable, loose clothing and good walking shoes.
This weekend will be cashless at the food, beverage and retail locations. Debit and credit cards only accepted. COVID-19 restrictions for the most part have been lifted, so no limit on ticket sales or access. Might want to put a mask in your gear, just in case.

TRACK CONFIGURATION – Permanent road course, located within the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Course is 2.439 miles in distance, 14 turns, mostly flat. Course uses the full IMS straightaway and partial turn 4 of the oval. After exiting the road course, the cars re-enter the oval near turn 2, thru turn 1 on to the straightaway. Oval tracks usually go counter-clockwise. This event is clockwise. The start/finish line is in the same as the oval, on the main straightaway.
PREFERRED AIRPORT – Indianapolis International Airport (IND).
PARKING – Some infield parking is available, call the ticket office for pricing and details. Expect to pay whenever you park IMS owns many lots surrounding the track. Refer to IMS.com for information and possible parking permit purchase. Many private residences and businesses close to the track offer parking spaces in driveways, parking lots and residential yards for a fee. They must have a permit from the City of Speedway, IN to charge for parking. Prepare for lots of walking.
CREDENTIALS – IMS has their credential offices inside the Administration Building at the traffic circle at 16th St and Crawfordsville Rd. Park and enter the building, ticket windows to the right, credentials to the left. All bags are subject to search when entering the entry gates and garage area. In the pits and garage area, no alcoholic beverages, no smoking and no coolers allowed. Credentials must be worn and visible at all times.
ENTRY POINTS – .There are many entry gates to IMS. Refer to the IMS map on IMS.com to familiarize yourself with the track layout. Arrive early and follow traffic instructions by Police and "Yellow Shirt" Speedway security personnel. You will see a variety of police officers; Speedway Police, Indianapolis Metro Police, Marion County Sheriff's Deputies and Indiana Highway Patrol. Keep your cool. Traffic can move slowly. This is a large event and sometimes traffic patterns get reversed. Turn on your car radio as many stations give traffic updates. All bags will be searched when you enter the gates.
TICKET INFO – Call the IMS ticket office at 1-317-492-6700 before arriving. Saves time at the gate when you have a ticket in hand. This number is also to purchase parking.
PROHIBITED ITEMS – No coolers larger than 18”x14”x14” hard or soft sides. No glass beverages or containers. No smoking in any form (including vapes) in ANY IMS grandstands. Firearms, weapons, fireworks, flares, flagpoles, drones, selfie sticks and animals ae not allowed. Leave at home lasers, roller blades, skateboards, skates, hover boards, scooters or golf carts. No glass containers, stickers, flagpoles, scaffolding or platforms allowed. No aerosol cans, pogo sticks, soliciting, sampling or flyers are to be distributed. Bicycles will not be allowed to enter through the pedestrian gates or cannot be ridden through pedestrian gates or cannot be ridden through vehicular tunnels. No trampolines or swimming pools! Service animals are allowed with documentation.
CAMPING – When the Speedway opened in 1909, farm land surrounded the facility. Fast forward to 2021, the track is surrounded by residential, commercial and industrial uses. IMS lots or a residential lot which the owner has complied with City regulations will allow camping. IMS owned North Forty (N of track off 30th St. or Lot 2, parallel to Straightaway off Georgetown Rd., they accommodate campers, tents and motorhomes. HINTS – The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a huge track with nearly 1000 acres. Go to IMS.com and familiarize yourself with the track and facility layout prior to arrival. Be prepared to do a lot of walking, so travel light and wear comfortable shoes. It will be hot and humid, so dress accordingly, include rain gear in your gear.

COVID INFORMATION AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS
Make a copy of your COVID-19 vaccination card and bring it with you. Masks or face coverings are not required for all who have been fully vaccinated. If you have not taken precautions of getting vaccinated, MASK UP!
Keep in mind that neither INDYCAR nor the track promoters have control over the Center for Disease Control or state and local regulations. Regulations are changing daily in many areas as the virus is still active. Safety to all fans and competitors is first and foremost. Read signs and follow instructions!
Although forgettable for many, 2020 will be remembered for no fans in attendance for spectator sports worldwide. INDYCAR sets the standard as the premier entertainment series in auto racing and we are not going racing full-time, full-schedule with fans in the stands!
