Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama

HONDA INDY GRAND PRIX OF ALABAMA
Presented by AmFirst *

Barber Motorsports Park - Birmingham, Alabama

April 16-18, 2021

Round #1 – 2021 Season Opener

GENERAL INFO – This is the 12th year the NTT INDYCAR SERIES has visited the Barber Motorsports Park, but the first time the facility has hosted the season opener! This course and it’s 880-acre grounds sets the standard for permanent road courses with it’s immaculate, beautifully landscaped grounds just 14 miles east of Birmingham.

Inside the Barber grounds is the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, recognized by Guinness as the World’s Largest Motorcycle Museum! It is a must see when visiting Barber. Besides your practice/race ticket, a separate admission is charged.

Take time to wander around the grounds. From every twist and turn, different views of the track let’s you appreciate the elevation changes and drivers’ skill required to negotiate the 14 turns. Free spectator trams also stop at many different stops (follow signs) thru the inside perimeter of the track. The less gear you bring, easier to utilize the trams. Separate ADA trams accommodate those with disabilities.

Bring sunscreen, wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes. Lots of walking with elevation changes. Pine trees are prevalent in the area, including the track grounds. If you have pine pollen issues, bring your meds. It’s usually warm for this event, but it has also been plagued with rain, accompanied by red clay mud, that will ruin anything it touches. Plan accordingly.

COVID-19 INFORMATION & SAFETY PROTOCOLS

  1. Come prepared to have your temperature taken at the track entry points. Even if you drive inside, you may be stopped and everyone in the vehicle will be checked.
  2. If you have a COVID-19 shot card, bring it with you OR make a legible copy, front and back, if applicable.
  3. Bring government photo I.D. with you and if it is requested, have it handy.
  4. Credentials for garages/pits or paddock entry may not be offered by INDYCAR, INDYCAR Nation members, or for sale from the tracks.
  5. If signs are posted to wear masks and/or social distance, just do it! Mask up!  Wash your hands frequently.

Keep in mind that neither INDYCAR nor the promoters or owners of the tracks have control over the Center for Disease Control or state and local regulations. Regulations change literally daily in many states, counties and cities as the virus is still active. When the public is restricted from the garage, pits or paddock, or has attendance limits, it is with safety being the primary issue. The teams, essential personnel and officials are tested regularly and are free from COVID-19. The goal is to keep it that way. With vaccines readily and now available nearly everywhere for most age groups, we hope it will arrest this virus quickly and soon. Although forgettable for many, 2020 will be remembered for no fans in attendance for spectator sports world-wide. INDYCAR sets the standard as the premier entertainment series in auto racing and we are now going racing full time, full schedule with fans in the stands!
