Since Akron is my hometown, during the past 22 years of Racing For Kids, it has always been a special experience to bring our drivers to Akron Children's Hospital. Today's visit with Justin Wilson was no different.
The day started off with the show car at the main entrance of the hospital. Local "Firestone guys" were a big help, taking pictures of the kids with Justin, and helping them in and out of the car. The highlight outside was a surprise visit from "Petey," the miniature horse. Before Petey went on his own visit with the kids, he received his autographed RFK hat and a picture with Justin!
Justin visited with more than 50 patients, who all pledged to tune into Versus on Sunday to cheer him on. Lookout Comcast, the ratings will be up!
Led by CEO Bill Considine, Akron Children's is a great asset for the city. We were very impressed with the brand new art and music therapy facility - a one of a kind in the U.S. All in all, it was a great day for the patients, their families, the staff -- as well as Justin Wilson and RFK!
