Although their Sunday was damp, the Brazilian fans showed a spirit throughout the whole weekend that makes all INDYCAR fans proud. Whether it was their wide eyes and beaming smiles when a driver walked by, or the enthusiastic cheers when the cars sped past, they proudly showed their love and support for the IZOD IndyCar Series in Sao Paulo.
None more than this young Brazilian race fan, 20-year-old Felipe de Melo Barbosa. He’s an
enthusiastic and proud INDYCAR Nation member and we surprised him with paddock credentials for Sunday. Felipe brought along his father for a behind-the-scenes look and they sent along a couple of pictures from their day at the track.
“I didn't know what to expect, as this came totally on surprise. The first thing I did when I got into Anhembi Circuit was find the garage area. To see all those beautiful Dallara cars just a couple foots from me and also hear the Honda engine sound was pretty nice. I wished I could have gone Saturday, as there was less people, so higher was the chance to meet more drivers. I was only able to talk to Servia. Most drivers were inside their team meeting room, and the Brazilian drivers were always giving interviews.
I almost took a picture with Emmo and Roger Penske, but I was too afraid to look like a stalker.” :-)
